One of the Google Pixel 4 and the key features of 4 XL is your 90Hz display. But if you are trying to save battery, you can disable the high refresh rate. Next, explains how to keep the phone screen at 60 Hz.
How to disable the 90Hz display
To start, swipe down on the home screen twice to skip the notification ringtone and enter the quick tiles section. Tap the gear icon to open the Settings menu.
Alternatively, you can swipe up from the home screen to open the app drawer. From there, find and select the application “Setting”.
you can use the search bar or switch between pages to locate the app “Screen”.
Select the button “Advanced” to expand the menu.
Find and tap on the option “Smooth screen”.
Select the switch next to “Smooth screen” to disable the 90Hz display. Like Pixel 4 y Pixel 4 XL will be locked to 60 Hz, you should experience slightly better battery extension.
How to force the refresh rate of 90 Hz
If you are not concerned about the battery extension and you want the Google Pixel 4 y Pixel 4 XL always run at 90Hz, force the screen with better appearance. We do not suggest this, since it will drain the battery faster.
Before being able to enter the option to force the highest refresh rate, you must enable Developer Options. To do this, swipe down on the screen twice to enter the quick setting tiles. Tap the gear icon to open the Settings menu. Alternatively, open the app “Setting” from the app drawer.
Scroll to the bottom of the menu and select the “About of the phone”.
Find the item “Build number” at the bottom of the page and tap it quickly. After a couple of seconds, you will be prompted to authenticate using your lock screen passcode (password, PIN, etc.).
Now that the settings are enabled, press the Back button and select the “System”.
Scroll down and tap “Advanced” to expand the full menu.
Find and select the “Developer options”.
Use the search tool to locate “Force 90Hz refresh rate” or scroll down and tap on the option within the section “Depuration”.
Select the switch next to “Force 90Hz refresh rate” to deactivate the function.
Again, we do not suggest the 90Hz refresh rate. Almost everyone who has used the Google Pixel 4 y Pixel 4 XL have commented on the poor phone battery life. Forcing the higher refresh rate will cause the device to die faster than usual.
