The SmartThings smart home platform is making some big changes in 2020. If you previously added SmartThings devices to the Google Assistant or Home app, you must reconnect the service to continue using it. We will show you how to do exactly that..
From 8 September 2020, SmartThings original integration with Google Home will stop working. You will no longer be able to control devices from a Google Assistant-enabled device, like Nest smart speakers and displays. This affects anyone who has added SmartThings to Google Home before 15 April 2020.
Google's new action includes faster response times and more devices, and supports multiple locations. If you want to continue controlling SmartThings devices through Google Nest and Home devices, you must reconnect them.
Open the Google Home app on your iPhone, iPad, O Android device and then tap the “+” in the top left-hand corner.
Please select “Configure device”.
Because we already have SmartThings built in, Touch “Already have something set up?”
"SmartThings" will be one of the services listed above. Touch the option.
On your iPhone or iPad, Touch “Find new devices”. On your Android device, touches “Reconnect the account”.
You will be taken to the login page where you can use your Samsung account or your SmartThings account.
After login, you will be asked to “Authorize” to Google to enter their locations, SmartThings devices and scenes.
That is all! You may have to move some devices to their respective rooms, but everything else should be as I had it set up before.
