Google is best known for being a search company. Despite this, Android, Google's own operating system, no dispone de una búsqueda integrada en todo el sistema como la función “Spotlight” iPhone. What's up with that?
“Spotlight” en el iPhone y iPad es una herramienta muy útil que le posibilita buscar contactos, Applications, shortcuts, photos, files and more, All in one place. Some Android phone manufacturers have their own versions of this, but Android as an operating system does not. That may be changing with Android 12, In summary.

The fourth beta version of Android 12, launched in September 2021, included a new functionality in Pixel Launcher. The search bar in the app drawer can now be used to perform a system-wide search. To end!
The screenshots above show some of the results you can get. Apps along with their in-app shortcuts, contacts, conversations, configuration shortcuts, toggle for settings and google searches. A Beta 4, can't seem to search files yet.
Unfortunately, this is only enabled in Pixel Launcher at the moment, so it's not yet native system-wide search that we'd love to see on all Android devices. It shows that Google is working on this functionality and it could hit the operating system sometime.
If you have a Google Pixel Android phone 12, you can test it by swiping up on the home screen to open the app drawer, then type in the search bar at the top.
To customize what appears in searches, toca el ícono de menú de tres puntos en la parte de arriba del cajón de la aplicación y selecciona “preferences”. You can turn categories on or off.
That's all about it. La solución a la pregunta “¿Cuándo obtendrá Android una búsqueda en todo el sistema al estilo de iPhone?” no es tan claro como nos gustaría. Google seems to be working on it with Android 12, but it could still be an exclusive feature for Pixel phones.
We're still dreaming about that Spotlight feature for Android.
