It is a good idea to keep your operating system and firmware up to date (iPadS) from your iPad. IPadOS updates are available for free from Apple and provide your iPad with the latest features and security and bug fixes. Next, Here's how to update your iPad to the latest version of iPadOS.
Make a backup before updating
Although problems throughout the installation procedure are rare, something is likely to go wrong and cause your iPad to lose its data. Because, before installing an iPadOS update on a mission critical iPad (or one with irreplaceable data), make it a habit to backup first.
Update iPadOS through the Settings app
In this days, most people update their iPad directly through the Settings app without connecting their iPad to a computer. This is called a wireless installation.
To do this, open the app “Setting” from the home screen.
Touch “General” excel template.
Please select “Software update” On the right side.
The Settings menu displays information about the latest iPadOS update, including the version number and some details about the changes it will make.
If your iPad has not yet downloaded the update, you will see a button that says “download and install”. Tap it to download the update. Your iPad will install the update automatically after the download is complete.
If your iPad has already downloaded the update, you will see the button “Install Now”; tap it to start the update procedure.
Once the installation procedure begins, a pop-up window will alert you that it is verifying the update; wait for this to finish.
After verification is complete, iPad screen will turn black and tablet will restart. The Apple logo and a small progress bar appear in the center of the screen.
When the installation is complete, you can use your iPad again, as usual.
Update iPadOS via USB with Finder or iTunes
You can also update your iPad through a wired connection with your Mac or Windows PC.. If your Mac is running macOS 10.15 the later, open Finder. If your Mac is running macOS 10.14 previous one, or are you using a Windows PC, open iTunes.
Connect your iPad to your computer with a Lightning to USB cable. If it is the first time you connect it to the computer, your iPad will ask if you want to trust the computer; touches “Trust”.
Find your iPad on the computer and click on it. On macOS 10.15 the later, you will see it on the left side of the Finder window in “Locations”.
If you are using iTunes, click the iPad icon in the toolbar near the top of the screen.
In the information window on your iPad, navigate to tab “General” (a Finder) o Settings> Summary (on iTunes). Click on “Search for updates”.
If an update is available, click on “Descargar”. When the download is complete, click on “To update”. Enter your password if necessary and the update will install.
Make sure your iPad is up to date
After updating your iPad, you can double check to make sure everything is installed.
On your iPad, go to Settings> General> Software Update. If your device is absolutely up to date, you will see a screen equivalent to the next one that confirms it.
Congratulations! Your iPad is up to date and ready to use.
Is your iPad no longer receiving updates? Time to buy a new one.
