While using a Mac, sometimes you need to dig into settings or maybe do some developer level command line tasks. For that, you will need the Terminal app to enter the command line on macOS. Here's how to start it.
How to open the terminal using Spotlight search
Perhaps the easiest and fastest way to open Terminal is through Spotlight Search. To start Spotlight, click on the little magnifying glass icon on your menu bar (or press Command + Space).
When the Spotlight search bar appears on your screen, scribe “terminal.app” and press Return. Or you can click on the Terminal.app icon that appears.
The terminal will start up and you are ready to go.
How to open the terminal from Launchpad
Also you can quickly open Terminal from Launchpad. If you have Launchpad on its base, haga clic en el icono del cohete o presione “F4” en su teclado para iniciarlo.
When Launchpad opens, scribe “Terminal” y presione regresar. When the bar appears “Terminal”.
The Terminal application will open.
How to open the terminal from the applications folder
If you prefer to start Terminal from the program icon in Finder, you will regularly find it in the folder / Applications / Utilities. This is its default location on new installations of macOS.
To open Terminal from your Applications folder, click on your desktop to focus Finder. In the menu bar, click on “Ir” and select “Applications”.
Your Applications folder will open. Desplácese hasta hallar la carpeta “Utilities”. Double click on the folder “Utilities” to open it. Inside, you will find Terminal.
Double click the Terminal.app icon and Terminal will open.
Keep the terminal on your dock for faster access
After starting Terminal, if you want to quickly enter it again in the future, you can choose to keep your icon in your Dock. Simplemente haga clic con el botón derecho en el icono de Terminal en su Dock y seleccione “Choices> Mantener en Dock”. The next time you need to run Terminal, just click on your Dock icon. Have fun on the command line!
