Sometimes, you may want to copy emails sent to another address without the recipient knowing. In Microsoft Outlook, you can configure rules to do this. We will guide you through the procedure and share an important warning.

Most people are familiar with the CC option (carbon copy) in your email program. CCing someone means you are sending them a copy of the message. Other recipients can also see who has received CC.

There is also a BCC option (hidden copy). Anyone with a Bcc will be hidden from other recipients, but you will be able to see sender and recipients.

And Outlook, you can add the Bcc field to emails with a simple toggle switch. To do it, open a new email, switch to tab “Choices” and then click “Cco”. Cco “Cco” Cco. To hide it one more time, click Options> Bcc on any new email.

Outlook "BCC" activation button.

If you want to BCC someone in a specific email, Cco “Cco” Cco “For” O “Cco”.

Field “Cco” Cco, as a newsletter. Depending on where you are in the world, it is feasible that you are legally obliged to hide people's email addresses for data protection reasons.

Even if there is no compelling legal obligation, still good practice (and common courtesy) not to spread the email addresses of people without their consent.

There are other scenarios where you might want to BCC someone. As an example, if you are dealing with a troublesome employee or coworker, you may want to keep a record of your email interactions in case you need to make a complaint. BCC enables you to send copies of messages to any address you want, without the recipients knowing.

If you want to add a Bcc recipient to each email automatically or to specific emails, like those of a certain person or containing specific words in the subject line, there is no easy way to do it. If you have used Outlook rules, you can hope this is an option, but unfortunately it is not.

Action options in the Rules Wizard.

It is feasible to use rules, but you have to create more than one. Specifically, one rule to apply a category to the emails you want BCC and another to automatically forward emails within that category to another address. This is not the same as a BCC, but it achieves the same.

The important caveat we mentioned previously is that many companies prevent their staff from forwarding emails outside the company. This is because automatic forwarding rules are a common method that cybercriminals use to obtain company data..

Any company big enough to have its own IT department will likely block automatic forwarding.. Additionally, you are likely to receive an alert when someone sets up an automatic forwarding rule..

If your company blocks automatic forwarding, you will have to add the BCC manually if you are going to an external email address. Despite this, Cco, Cco, are you ready to start.
