By default, when you create a table in Word, aligns with the left margin. You might want to make your tables stand out a bit by indenting them, but this cannot be done with the same formatting tools you would use to indent a paragraph.
We will show you a couple of ways you can easily indent a table in Word. First, you can use the table handle in the upper left corner of the table. Click and hold the handle and then drag it to the right to move the entire table.
If you want to be more precise how much the table indents, there is another way to do it. Right-click the table handle in the upper-left corner of the table and select “Table Properties” in the pop-up menu.
In the Table Properties dialog, make sure the Table tab is on. Enter an amount in the edit box “Indent from the left” to indicate the extent to which you want to indent the entire table. As an example, we enter 0.5 inches to bleed our board half an inch.
NOTE: By default, units of measurement are in inches, but you can change them to centimeters, millimeters, points or spades.
All of our table has an indentation half an inch from the left margin.
Additionally you can use the Table tab in the Table Properties dialog to center or right align the entire table.
