In Windows 10, the refresh rate of your monitor determines how often the screen image is updated every second. In general, the higher, better. If you need to change the refresh rate of your monitor, Windows 10 makes it easy. That's how.

What is the monitor refresh rate?

The refresh rate of a monitor is the frequency with which the image on your screen is updated. As an example, an update frequency of 60 Hz means the image on your monitor is updated 60 times per second. The update frequency of 120 Hz means the image is updated 120 times per second. The higher the refresh rate, movement will look smoother on screen.

On older CRT monitors, some people notice flickering at lower refresh rates, so monitors that support higher refresh rates produce a more stable image that is more pleasing to the eye. LCD monitors do not experience flickering, so lower refresh rates are generally fine for most users. In general, you want to use the highest refresh rate that your monitor supports in its native resolution.
