Windows temporary files, As the name implies, they are temporary files created by certain programs when they are in use on your Windows device 10. These files can add up quickly and consume valuable storage space, so you might want to remove them.
Use Disk Cleanup
Disk Cleanup is a Windows program 10 which enables you to quickly remove files that are no longer needed, including temporary files. To start Disk Cleanup, scribe “Disk Cleanup” in the Windows search bar and then click the application “Disk Cleanup” in search results.
The Disk Cleanup window for Windows opens (C :). check the box next to each type of temporary files that you want to remove and then click “To accept”.
A pop-up message will appear asking you to confirm that you want to remove the selected files. Click on “Delete files”.
The system will start to remove the selected temporary files.
Clear temporary files from the settings app
You can also remove temporary files from the Settings application. First, open Settings by clicking the Windows icon in the lower left corner of the desktop to open the Start menu and then clicking the gear icon. Alternatively, press windows + i.
The Settings window will open. Here, click the option “System”.
Next, click on “Storage” in the left panel.
On the next screen, click on “Temporary files” in the Windows group (C :).
A list of what your system considers temporary files will appear. Check the box next to the files you want to remove and then click “Delete files”.
Windows 10 now it will start to remove temporary files.
Manually delete temporary files
If you like to do things the old-fashioned way, you can also remove the temporary files yourself in File Explorer. But instead of searching through multiple layers of folders trying to locate the Temp folder, you can use a shortcut. First, press windows + R to open the Run application. Once opened, scribe %temp%
in the text box, and then click “To accept” or press Enter.
The Temp folder will open in File Explorer. Select the files you want to remove. You can quickly choose all files by pressing Ctrl + A. Selected files are highlighted in blue.
Next, right click on any of the selected files. In the context menu that appears, click on “Delete”.
Windows will start to remove the selected temporary files.
As we already mentioned, removing temporary files is a good way to reclaim storage space, but it is also feasible that removing temporary files can help improve your PC if it works a little slow. If that's your goal and removing the temp files didn't help, try clearing your PC cache.
