Windows 11 comes with advanced settings, called hardware accelerated GPU programming, which can improve the performance of games and videos with your PC's GPU. We will show you how to enable the feature and, so, potentially get a performance boost.
What is hardware accelerated GPU programming?
In general, Your computer's processor downloads some graphics-intensive and visual data to the GPU for rendering, so that the games, multimedia and other applications run smoothly. CPU collects frame data, assigns commands and privileges them one by one so that the GPU can process the frame.
With hardware accelerated GPU scheduling function, the programming processor and memory (VRAM) GPU handles the same job and runs it in batches to render the frames. That way, your GPU relieves the processor of some work and reduces latency to potentially make your PC run better.

What you will need to make this feature work
Although this feature debuted with the Windows update 10 May 2020, it is still disabled in Windows 11. At the same time, your computer must have an NVIDIA graphics card (GTX 1000 And later) o AMD (serie 5600 the later) with the latest graphics driver.
Unfortunately, no specific hardware combination exists yet (CPU y GPU) known to get the best performance with the feature. So, your mileage may vary with this tool based on CPU, your PC's GPU and graphics drivers.
Then, We tell you how you can enable it on your Windows PC 11.
Enable hardware accelerated GPU scheduling in Windows 11
Before starting, it is a good idea to update the graphics drivers on your PC.
To start, press windows + i to open the app “Setting”. In the section “System”, select option “Screen” the right side.
In the section “Related settings”, select “Graphics”.
Choose “Change the default graphics settings”.
Subsequently, turn the switch on “Hardware-accelerated GPU programming” and select “Yes” at the User Access Control prompt that appears.
After that, you can close the app “Setting” and restart your PC to apply the change.
Microsoft States you can't witness any significant changes right away. Despite this, if this feature hampers your PC performance instead of improving, you can deactivate it.
For that, revisit Settings> System> Screen> Graphics Settings> and click “Change the default graphics settings”. Subsequently, turn switch on “Hardware-accelerated GPU programming” and select “Yes” at the User Access Control prompt.
That is all! You can check if it improves the experience of games and applications on your Windows PC 11.
