If you are thinking of replacing your smartphone battery yourself, or even change that broken screen, there are several tools you must have to make the job much easier.

Although these kits come with all the tools you will need to get the job done, unfortunately it is the bare minimum and you will be surprised how easy the procedure is with some additional tools at your disposal.
suction cup pliers

Heat softens the adhesive and makes it easier to separate from the screen when you open it, while reducing the chance of something breaking.
You can also use something like a bag of rice that you heat in the microwave. I fix it sell their own version of this made specifically for mobile device repair, but could easily make yours with a sock and some rice.
Magnetic mat
Disassembling a phone results in many loose screws and small parts that need to be kept organized and, what is more important, prevent them from getting lost. This is where a magnetic mat can be a real life saver.
Not only does it prevent the little screws from falling off the table and getting lost, Rather, most mats have parting lines so you can organize parts and keep track of everything, as well as using a dry erase marker to find out what is what.
Guitar picks
It's great to have suction cup pliers, but if you are dealing with a stubborn display assembly that is truly stuck, guitar picks can be helpful.
You can use them as a makeshift spudger (small plastic pry devices), but guitar picks are also useful to act as spacers to keep the places you have already separated apart. Suppose you have the lower half of the screen to lift, but not the top half. You can put some guitar picks between the body and the screen in the lower half to keep it up and not fall back into place while working on the upper half.

Old credit cards
Just like guitar picks, having an old credit card on hand can help lift certain parts, but what makes credit cards better in some cases is that you can lift a larger surface in one go.

This makes them ideal for removing stubborn batteries that are glued on.; using a spudger or something equivalent is not ideal for this, since it would be easy to accidentally pierce the battery.
With an old credit card, you can slide it under the whole battery on one side and work it slowly without fear of piercing anything.
Forget
Smartphone parts are extremely small. Unless you have good eyesight, it can be hard to see what is what. A magnifying glass can be a true savior.
What I like to do is use the magnifying glass on my "third hand" welding tool.. You can Buy them for quite cheap, and the stand lets you keep both hands free while using the magnifying glass to get a closer look at the insides of your phone.
If you wear glasses and want a little more portability, you can try something like this clip-on jeweler's loupe.
Desk lamp
You may think you already have a lot of light, but you would be surprised what a cheap desk lamp can do.
For a long time, I never took advantage of the extra light when working on projects, but once I started using headlights and desk lamps, it completely changed my perspective of what proper lighting meant.
It is also a cheap investment. You can get a decent desk lamp for less than $ 15. Even better, I probably already have one in the house somewhere.
