How to add a Microsoft Teams chat link to your email signature

Add an email address, Twitter, LinkedIn and company information to your email signature is fine, but none of those options allow the recipient to instantly chat with you. Fortunately, you can add a direct chat link from Microsoft Teams so people can text you with one click.

It's fair to say that providing a direct chat link to everyone is not a good idea for everyone., and not everyone will feel comfortable doing it. Depending on its function, your company may not even allow you to do this, even if you want.

The good news is that people outside your company will only be able to use this link if your team administrators have allowed outside guests to chat with people within your company.. If they haven't, this link will not work.

But for anyone dealing with participation, public relations, hand marketing, sales or recruiting, this gives your customers a direct way to communicate with you. This is much better than losing a message in your company's Twitter DMs or having it routed to the wrong person from a shared mailbox.

The link, of course, will work for anyone in your company, which means you can use it in internal emails, intranet pages, newsletters, etc., for your colleagues to use.

Creating the link is surprisingly easy. Take the next URL and replace with the email address you use in Teams:

Because, if your email address is “[email protected]”, the link would be:

https://teams.microsoft.com/l/chat/0/[email protected]

Now you can go to the email client of your choice and add the link to your email signature.
