Opening ZIP files is something that people associate with computers, but it can also be done on a phone or tablet. If you download a compressed file on your Android device, its not too difficult to extract its content. We will show you how.
All Android phones come with a file manager app, but in general they are basic and cannot open ZIP files. Fortunately, there are several applications in the Google Play Store search engine that can do it for free.
An app we like is “Google files”. It is not only a good application to unzip ZIP, but it is also a good complete file manager that can also be used to free up space on your smartphone.

First, download Google files from Google Play Store on your Android device. Next, open the application and find the ZIP file you would like to open. If you downloaded the compressed file, locate the folder “downloads”.
From there, select the file to bring up the Extraction dialog. Touch the button “Extract” to open the file.
You will see a progress bar and then the dialog box will tell you that the file has been unzipped. Touch “Ready” to end. If you want to discard the ZIP file, you can check the box “Delete ZIP file” while closing the popup menu.
That is all! The content extracted from the ZIP file will be placed in the same folder location as the ZIP file.
