Apple's Facetime video calling is perhaps one of its most used features. Empower people with iPhones, iPads and Macs make video calls with each other easily. Can't make Facetime calls from Windows, but there are several other alternatives to make video calls, even for iPhone users.

No, there is no Facetime in Windows and it is not likely there will be anytime soon. Facetime is a proprietary standard and is simply not enabled outside of the Apple ecosystem. Then, if you were hoping to use Facetime to call your mom's iPhone from your Windows PC, you're out of luck. Despite this, there are several great video calling alternatives that work on Windows.

Here are several that are available in Windows, macOS, Android e iOS, so you can spend face-to-face time with just about anyone. A couple are even available for Linux.

  • Skype: Microsoft property, Skype was one of the first video calling apps to go mainstream. Since then, it's only gotten better. Skype is Windows enabled, macOS, iOS, Linux and Android.
  • Hangouts: Google Hangouts not only allows you to make video calls, you can also have a complete video conference with several people. There are dedicated Hangouts apps for iOS and Androidand is enabled for all desktop users through their web browser.
  • Facebook Messenger: Did you know that you can make video calls using Facebook Messenger? May, and you can use the feature on virtually any operating system. There are dedicated Messenger apps for iOS and Android, but you can also use Messenger directly in your desktop web browser to make video calls from Windows, MacOS or Linux.
  • Viber: Viber is a feature-rich app that you can use for video calls and a range of other purposes.. It has millions of users worldwide and is enabled for a range of platforms such as iOS, Android, Windows, macOS and Linux.

And if, you will need to go the extra step to make sure the people you want to call have the correct app installed. But once this is done, you can make video calls to almost anyone. It doesn't matter if they use Windows, iOS, Android, macOS or including Linux.
