Apple Watch faces aren't just pretty, they can also be powerful. Most watch faces come with designated complication areas (small widgets). Here's how to add complications to the watch face on Apple Watch.
There are watch faces like Typography or California that have to do with style. And then there are watch faces like Infograph and Modular that deal with complications.. Actually, can have eight complications on the Infograph watch face. They can be shortcuts to open applications, actions or simply visual displays of information or data.

With third-party applications, you can create your own custom complications. As an example, the Watchsmith app enables you to create custom complications for the date, The time, the calendar and more.
If you are new to Apple Watch, you should definitely take the time to customize the complications on your favorite watch faces. You can add or change complications directly from Apple Watch.
To start, navigate to the watch face you want to customize by swiping inward on the left or right edge of the wearable device screen. Here, press and hold the watch face. In the edit menu, touch the button “Edit”.
You are now in the watch face customization view. Swipe left until you see the section “Complications”. Touch the area where you want to add or change the complication.
You will find a list of complications for all available applications. A single application can have multiple complications. A good example is the Shortcuts app for Apple Watch. You can add any shortcut to watch face on Apple Watch.
When you are browsing applications with a large collection of complications, touch the button “Plus” to see all complications.
Of the list, select the complication you want to add to your watch face.
You will now see the preview of the complication. Repeat this procedure to change or add more complications to the watch face. Once i'm done, press digital crown to save watch face, then press it once more to return to the watch face.
And that is! You just added a complication to your Apple Watch. Now, use the same procedure to try out and customize different watch faces with your favorite complications.
