Google Chrome's incognito mode is very useful for private browsing. But, What if you leave your iPhone unlocked? New Chrome for iPhone feature locks incognito tabs with Face ID so others can't check the sites you visit.

Using Face ID to unlock incognito tabs feature comes as part of an experimental flag built into Google Chrome's search engine 91 for iphone. Apply an extra layer of security for incognito tabs, what you need to unlock them with Face ID and also prevent someone from spying on your iPhone.

Warning: At the time of writing this post in June 2021, this feature is enabled as an experimental flag in chrome 91. Google could finally implement it as a stable function, or it might disappear from chrome, as always happens with flags. It also has the potential to break Chrome.

Although the flags are available for Chrome on almost all platforms, this feature is only enabled for iPhones that support Face ID (iPhone X and later versions).

First, open the Google Chrome app on your iPhone. Subsequently, scribe chrome://flags in the address bar and hit Enter.

When Chrome opens, select the three-dot menu icon in the lower right corner and choose “Setting”.

Activate the option “Block incognito tabs when you close Chrome”.

After enabling that feature, next time i open chrome to see incognito tabs, it will ask you to unlock them with Face ID.

To disable incognito tab locking with Face ID, disable the option “Lock incognito tabs when closing Chrome” Visiting “Privacy” in the section “Setting” chrome.
