How to make your emails read out loud in Outlook on iPhone, iPad and Android

Note: At the time of writing this post, not all customization settings described below may be available on Android. Additional features are still being implemented and may change over time.

Enable Play my emails in Microsoft Outlook

Open the Outlook application on your iPhone, iPad, O Android device and tap your profile icon in the upper left corner. At the bottom of the menu, tap the gear icon to open Settings.

In the Mail section of the Settings menu, select “Play my emails”.

Choose an email account from the top under Email Accounts. Subsequently, turn on Play my emails.

You can use the feature for multiple Outlook accounts if you want.

In Play emails from, select the messages you want to listen to. You can select Priority Inbox, Favorite People or Favorite Folders.

Under What to play, choose whether you want to listen to only unread emails or all emails from the latest 72 hours.

Tap the arrow in the upper left corner to return to the Play My Emails settings. Subsequently, you can customize additional options for the function.

Personalizar Play My Emails

If you connect your smartphone to your vehicle, can enable “Autoplay” from the same Settings menu. Subsequently, choose the action for the Previous and Next alternatives. Can automatically play previous and next emails or invoke Cortana.

If you have Do Not Disturb or Automatic Responses enabled on your device, you will not receive the reminder.

When you're done customizing the Play My Emails alternatives, tap the back arrow in the upper left corner to go back and then select the button “X” to close the menu and return to your inbox.

• Touch pause at any time to temporarily stop playback and then touch play to resume.
• Select the flag icon to flag the email or the box icon to archive it.
• Swipe from right to left to go to the next message.
• Tap the microphone icon to give Cortana an audio command. You can say things like “Skip”, “Delete”, “file”, “Mark as read” and similar actions.

When Cortana finishes reading your emails, you will see and hear that it is up to date. Next, you can touch the icon “X” in the upper left corner to return to your inbox.
