When taking a screenshot on a Mac, macOS generally displays a small thumbnail of the screenshot in the lower right corner of the screen for a few moments before saving the image. If you find this annoying, it's easy to turn it off. That's how.
Why even have a thumbnail?
Maybe you are wondering: Why show thumbnail? For all we know, Apple decided that this would be the best way to activate macOS's built-in screenshot editing feature., that has been around since Mac OS X 10.14 Mojave.
If you click the thumbnail of the screenshot that appears, the screenshot opens in a special editor that enables you to crop the image or annotate it with drawings, shapes or text before it is saved to disk. You also have the opportunity to discard the image if you don't like it..
But that's a great extra capability for people who just want to quickly snap a screenshot.. Fortunately, Apple makes it easy to disable this feature.

How to disable the screenshot preview thumbnail on a Mac
To disable the screenshot thumbnail, press Command + Shift + 5 from anywhere on your Mac. A special screenshot toolbar will appear at the bottom of the screen. Click the button “Choices”.
A small menu will appear. In the section “Choices” from that menu, uncheck “Show floating thumbnail”.
When it's over, close the screenshot toolbar by pressing “Escape” or by clicking on the small button “X”.
From now on, every time I take a screenshot using Command + Shift + 3 the command + Shift + 4, the image will be quickly saved directly to its correct destination. No more thumbnail delays!
