If at any point you made a couple of minor mistakes and saved an Excel workbook, you will know that sometimes it takes a long time to undo that mistake. We will show you how to view and restore previous versions of Microsoft Excel workbooks.

Before starting, you should know that a Microsoft subscription is required 365 to enter the version history in Excel. If you have this subscription, you get the entire Office suite along with OneDrive cloud storage.

You will need to set up OneDrive on your computer by opening the app and logging in. Once this is done, just save any excel document to OneDrive and, from that moment, you can access all your version history. Any edits you make from here on will be logged., and Excel makes it really easy to revert to any previously saved version of the workbook.

First, open Microsoft Excel and go to any of your workbooks. Double check that the AutoSave option at the top is enabled, and if it is not, just save the document to OneDrive to enable it.

Make sure AutoSave is turned on

Make all the modifications you want in this document. Once i'm done, click on the file name in the top bar.

Please select “Version history”.
