Outlook online can detect when an email contains a reservation or reservation information and automatically adds the details to your calendar. Next, We show you how to activate the automatic function and select what is added to your schedule.

By default, Outlook Online will automatically add flight reservations, cars and hotels to your calendar. You can choose to disable them, If you wish, and also select that any of the following events be added automatically:

  • Bills (currently only supported in North America)
  • Package deliveries
  • Meal reservations
  • Event reservations (song, sports, etc.)
  • Service reservations (appointment with the doctor, car maintenance, etc.)

Microsoft maintains a regularly updated list from vendors whose event emails can be added to their calendar, so you can check if your provider is still supported. Past events or unsupported vendor events will not be added to your calendar.

The good news is that this works in all versions of Outlook Online, regardless of whether you have an Office subscription 365 (O365) or if you use the free version of Outlook.com. Despite this, you must have a Microsoft account, since the automatic calendar does not work with the email accounts of other providers.

To activate or modify automatic calendar updates, log into your Outlook online account and then click Settings> View all Outlook settings.

Outlook settings panel.

From there, open Calendar> Events from email.

The options "Calendar" and "Email events".

The panel will open “The panel will open”. By default, the option “The panel will open” it's activated, but you can change it if you want. You also get a series of drop-down menus for each type of event.

The panel

To add events to your calendar automatically, The panel will open “The panel will open”.

The drop-down menu showing the different event summary options.

When you have modified the drop-down menu for each event type, Click the button “Keep” The panel will open.

The Save button.

That is all, It is done. Events will now be automatically added to your calendar. This will not come back through your emails and will add events in the past, but it will scan the emails you receive from now on and automatically add them to your calendar.

If you want to disable this feature, The panel will open “The panel will open”.
