Block citations are used to indent and separate a quoted comment from your own writing. Unlike normal indentations, adding block quotes in Microsoft Word need some extra steps.

Because academic writing is written to strict standards of style, the requirements for block citations in Word differ from style to style. Fortunately, puede ajustar el tamaño de cualquier sangría usando la barra de regla o usando la configuración de “Paragraph” on the menu “Design” o en la ventana de configuración de “Paragraph”.

Using the layout menu

La forma más rápida de agregar comillas en bloque a un documento de Microsoft Word es utilizar la configuración de “Paragraph” que está visible en la pestaña “Design” on the ribbon bar.

To add a bulk quote using this menu, open your word document and select the quote text. From the ribbon bar, click on the tab “Design” para mostrar la configuración de “Paragraph”.

And Word, select your block quote, then press the tab "Design" on the ribbon bar.

Block citations in APA and MLA styles must start on their own line and have indents to the left of 0,5 cm in size. In the APA style, block quotes must have at least 40 words, while in the MLA style, citations must be at least four lines.

If you use a different academic style, check your style guide to make sure the indent size you use is correct.

Since both APA and MLA use indentations of 0,5 cm for block quotes, establezca el valor de “Left indentation” on “0,5 cm” y presione la tecla Intro para confirmar. Alternatively, use the right arrow buttons to increase the size of the indent in increments of 0,1 cm.

Set the value of "Left indentation" on "0,5 cm".

This will change the size of the indent for the text you selected, creating a bulk appointment in the procedure. You can later add formatting, as italics, to make the text stand out even more. You will need to repeat these steps for each additional block quote that you add to your document.

Using the ruler bar

In earlier editions of Microsoft Word, the easiest way to add a bulk quote to a word document was to use the ruler bar, showing margins and indents in use today. Despite this, the ruler bar is no longer visible by default in newer versions.
