Windows 10 Logo Hero - Version 3

Originally, Windows 10 would ask you if you wanted to switch to tablet mode if you unplugged your keyboard or folded your convertible PC. As of October update 2020, Windows 10 now automatically switch your machine to tablet mode without asking. If you prefer, it's easy to disable it in Settings. That's how.

First, abra “Setting” Windows. The easiest way is to open the Start menu and click on the little gear icon in the little sidebar on the left.. Or you can press Windows + i on your keyboard.

On “Setting”, click on “System”.

In Windows settings 10, click on "System".

In the sidebar “System”, click on “Tablet”.

In the system settings in Windows 10, click on

In the settings “Tablet”, click the drop-down menu under “When I use this device as a tablet”.

In Windows Tablet Settings 10, click drop down menu

In the menu that appears, select “Do not switch to tablet mode” O “Ask me before switching modes”. This is what each choice does.

  • Don't switch to tablet mode: If you disconnect your keyboard or fold your convertible tablet PC, Windows will stay in desktop mode.
  • Ask me before changing modes: When you disconnect a keyboard or bend your PC, Windows 10 will display a message asking if you want to switch to tablet mode. This is similar to the old Windows default behavior 10 before the October update 2020.

Choose the option that suits your personal preferences. You can also experiment with each option to see which one you like best..

In the Windows tablet settings 10, choose an option from the drop-down menu.

When you're done, Close “Setting”. Thereafter, the next time you physically move your device to a tablet setup, Windows 10 will not automatically switch to tablet mode. It is good that even when adding new functions, Windows still allows us to have control over how these functions of our PCs work.
