You are probably familiar with working from the hamburger menu in Mozilla Firefox. But, if you want to see the old school menu bar (with File, Edit, See and more) at the top of the Firefox window, you have some options. These work both in Firefox for Windows 10 as in Firefox on Linux.

Use of “Alt” to quickly view the menu bar

First, abra Firefox, any window will be useful. If you need to quickly access an option in the menu bar, press the Alt key on your keyboard. The menu bar will appear at the top of the current Firefox window and will stay there until you make a selection or click elsewhere.

When it's visible, you will see seven menu options: File, Edit, Watch, Record, Bookmarks, Tools and Help. Some of the menu bar tasks you can perform (as File> Work offline, File> Email link or Edit> Choose all) are not available on the hamburger menu, so it's good to know where to look if you can't find a feature.

When you finish making a selection, or if you click anywhere else, the menu will disappear again.

How to always show the menu bar in Firefox

If you want to keep the Firefox menu bar open all the time, also there is a way to do it. Launch Firefox and right-click on the tab bar at the top of any window, then place a mark next to “Menu bar” in the menu that appears.

En Firefox, right-click on the tab bar and check the box next to "Menu bar".

Alternatively, you can open the hamburger menu and select “Personalize”. In the tab “Customize Firefox”, Click the button “Tool bars” near the bottom of the page and check “Menu bar” in the menu that appears.

In the Personalize tab of Firefox, click the button

Thereafter, close the tab “Customize Firefox”, and the menu bar will always be visible from now on. If at any time you want to hide the menu bar again, just right-click on the menu bar and uncheck “Menu bar”. Happy browsing!
