By default, Windows 11 does not show any special icon (What “This PC” O “Recycle Bin”) in his desk. If you want a classic Windows look, you can enable special desktop icons easily. Here's how to do it.
First, right click on an empty spot on the desktop and select “Personalize” in the menu that appears.
The Windows Settings app will open to the page “Personalization”. In the list of customization categories, select “Topics”.
On issues, scroll down and click “Desktop Icon Settings”.
A special window will appear titled “Desktop Icon Settings”. Using section “Desktop icons” near the top of the window, place checkmarks next to special icons that you would like to appear on the desktop. As an example, if you want to see the Recycle Bin on your desktop, Mark “Recycle Bin”. When it's over, click on “To accept”.
After clicking “To accept”, the window will close. You can also close Settings. Take a look at your desktop and you will see the special icons you marked on the window “Desktop Icon Settings”.
Tip: You can make your desktop icons bigger or smaller by holding down the Ctrl key on your keyboard and scrolling the mouse wheel up or down.
If you change your mind and want to hide certain special desktop icons, revisit Settings> Personalization> Topics> Desktop Icon Settings and uncheck the icons you no longer want to see.
Do you want to hide all your desktop icons in their place? Just right click on your desktop, select “Watch” and activate the option “Show desktop icons”.
When it's over, you may want to continue customizing your desktop by also changing your desktop background. Have fun!
